Involvement Opportunity: Research Assistant, Terry Project Podcast

Boy, the Terry Project Podcast was fun last term. In review, we had 4 great 60-minute radio documentaries, each progressively stronger than the last. First, in our back-to-school special, we shared some UBC stories. Then, we looked at indigenous rights and title, from Brazil to BC. Next, we explored the complicated relationship between art and war. And, in probably our best episode yet, we looked at post-Gaddafi Libya through the eyes of one UBC student. Then, we got a little busy and petered off around exams. Though we never had time to produce our full-length 60 minute documentaries, we still closed the year strong with a one-on-one interview with Canada’s first and only female PM, highlights from the 5th annual TEDx Terry Talks, and excerpts from our 2nd BARtalk.

This growing project is only getting better, and we are looking for another strong term. The start of the year presents a perfect opportunity to involve more student volunteers, so I am reposting these listings. Position: Research Assistant

The Terry Project Podcast prides itself on exploring the most pressing global issues, and speaking to the foremost local and international experts on those issues. We are looking for a research assistant who can help us stay abreast of emerging political debates, ground-breaking academic research, and interested personalities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Attending weekly meetings and brainstorming topic ideas.
  • Exploring key debates and identifying suitable personalities to speak on those debates.
  • Assisting in writing questions and researching for segments.
  • Taking notes on segments working with the rest of the production team to decide which content to put into the finished project.

An interest in global affairs and strong research skills are required.

We are looking for 1-2 enthusiastic volunteers who will be available for a 2-4 hour time commitment each week.

If you are interested, please email Gordon Katic by January 7th with a brief cover letter explaining why you’d like to help, and detailing any relevant experience you might have.
