YouTube Symphony Orchestra

Woah! It’s not every day you get a chance to play in Carnegie Hall. I just found out about this project on YouTube. Tan Dun, the composer who wrote the film music for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero, was commissioned by Google to write a symphonic piece for the project. People who want to participate can download the music, practice it with the help of videos of Tan Dun conducting, videotape themselves, and then submit their tape on YouTube. The individual videos are going to be used to create a collaborative video of the piece, and YouTube viewer votes help to select a group of musicians to play the piece in Carnegie Hall in New York in April. Deadline for submissions is January 28. As soon as I post this I’m going to to the Music Building and practice.
