INSPIRE! “Global Health: Challenges and Opportunities of the 21st Century”

Dorothy says:

UBC ISSA and International Week are proud to present “INSPIRE | Global Health: Challenges and Opportunities of the 21st Century”, a conference unlike any other on international health! Why, you ask? Beyond its informative nature to provide answers for questions students may have about issues in global health, we will be putting the onus on students themselves to evaluate whether they are harming or helping the situation – for example, what’s the deal with volunteering overseas, or “voluntourism”? Are we helping or harming the situation, and what would field professionals recommend so we can contribute positively? Also, this conference will be interactive between the speakers and the audience so we can collaborate together for ideas on international health and development.

The best part is that we’re bringing professionals together from a wide range of fields, including social ethics, malnutrition, primary health care, pharmaceuticals, and even environmental health – because interdisciplinary input is absolutely crucial for addressing these issues, and your awareness should be no different.
