Sam Eifling will receive his master’s in journalism from UBC this month but has been a working journalist since graduating from Northwestern University a decade ago. As a staffer, freelancer or intern he has covered news, culture, and media for such publications as the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Miami Herald, New Times Broward-Palm Beach, The New Republic, Popular Science, Slate, ESPN The Magazine, Adbusters, the Oxford American, Deadspin, Grantland, the Columbia Journalism Review and the Tyee. In 2005 the Society of Professional Journalists gave him a Sigma Delta Chi award, its highest, for a newspaper feature story on a competitive eater. On Twitter, he’s @sameifling.
