A writer you are you say? How about entering the Ubyssey’s Literary Supplement contest.

The Ubyssey is looking for submissions for our annual literary supplement—our February dedication to fiction and creative non-fiction at UBC.

It’s a great chance for you to cut your teeth before the Terry deadline, plus there are some great prizes for the top entrants. Beyond that it’s a chance for writers like you to see your stories in print and to make campus culture that much more stimulating.

The nuts and bolts: The stories will be judged by the editorial staff, professors and industry professionals. The contest is open to UBC students only, and successful entries will be printed in our February 29th issue. Stories can be up to 3500 words. Beyond that they can be any genre or form. There’s no theme this year—what we want is your interpretation of what a short story should do.

The deadline for submissions is February 22. For more information, to submit your entry, or to argue about the role of fiction, email joe@joerayment.com.
