When Viet Vu came out to his parents as bi they threatened to disown him. He recalls how both the positive and negative reactions he received from family and friends after he came out prompted him to examine the complexities of coming out as bisexual – and question the kind of environment that facilitates coming out.

This was a question that also led him to get involved with Equaldex, where he conducted research on the legal structure of the LGBTQ+ community around the world.

In this TEDx Talk, he puts a spotlight on a group that is rarely talked about in LGBTQ+ rights, and explains how anyone can have a tangible impact in someone’s life by choosing to care.
