Interested in bridging #UBC with the Downtown Eastside? UBC Learning Exchange is looking for a new Academic Director.

Kind of needs a new awning don’t you think? Something cool like this?

And maybe you know of a great prof who would be awesome for this position. In case, you’re not sure what the Learning Exchange is, read the short description below, and take a peek at their website.

The Learning Exchange was created to make connections between the University and people in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside by providing a place where people can get to know each other, pursue shared interests, learn from each other and, in doing so, increase community capacity to act for positive change.

Anyway, they are looking for Faculty to apply who could commit to one day a week for the next two years.

This also reminds me to follow up on an idea I had a few years back when our lab started our Science Creative Literary Symposia program. This was something modeled after the successful 826 Programs, and I always thought it would be cool to bring it to the DTES. One to put on my “follow up” list for this summer.
