Awesome Event Alert: Global Islam

One of my favourite things about the Christmas holidays (I mean aside from the holiday bit of course) is realizing that there are so many amazing lectures coming to campus in the semester to come. Here is one such event to look forward to, and it’s part of a wider series called Global Islam, so the fun lasts all term long! Details for the first event are below.

Global Islam, Garbled Impressions: Fostering Understanding in a Divided World
SHAFIQUE N. VIRANI, PhD

Shafique Virani is an award-winning author and internationally renowned public speaker. After receiving his PhD from Harvard University, he served on the faculty at Harvard, was Head of World Humanities at Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates, and is currently Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Toronto. His landmark book, The Ismailis in the Middle Ages: A History of Survival, A Search for Salvation (2007), was published by Oxford University Press.
